On a glorious hot summer's day, our annual Gala Day, The Crendon Fours was held on Tuesday 9th August.

The 12 teams that entered started bowling at 9.30am and some close matches were played in the 2 Round Robin Leagues. Going into the last round of games, any one of 3 teams from each league was in with a chance of making the Final.

Thame, led by Ray Plested and South Oxford, led by Chris Billingham eventually made it through to the Final, with Thame winning the competition in a close fought final.

The presentation to the Finalists, along with Flackwell Heath, who finished third, was made by Tony Durkin (Chairman) and Adrian Smith (President).

The games were punctuated by an excellent lunch provided by Pauline Cherry, Jo Hill, Amanda Johnson and Barbara Scott and between the completion of the Round Robin stage and the Final, tea and cakes were served by Doreen and Graham Penn. The raffle prizes were drawn before the Final.

Thanks also go to our greenkeeping team of Rob Webb, Dave Lyne and Terry Holt for presenting a green to be proud of and the many helpers to make this a special day for Long Crendon Bowls Club.
