The play-offs for the BBA Ray Keen League were held at Iver Heath on Sunday 19th September.

The Long Crendon Evans Above team qualified by winning the Central Section, with a record of 8 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss from our 10 games in Division 1.

The team of Alan Quinnell, Barbara Scott, Dave Lyne and Rob Webb were drawn to play The Stony Sparklers in the semi-final, following the Sparklers earlier victory in the Preliminary round.

Just after the match started, the heavens opened for 15-20 minutes and gave us all a good soaking but it didn’t deter us, we maintained our performance level and ran out eventual winners 14 – 11.

After an extended wait to play the Final against The Gerrards Cross Erasers, the match got underway in thankfully dry conditions. Gerrards Cross got off to a flyer and opened up a 10 – 0 lead after a few ends. With one end to play, we had fought back to trail by just 2 shots. Unfortunately we lost the last end by the narrowest of margins, with the final score a defeat by 14 – 11.

We played well against Gerrards Cross, one of the top Clubs in Buckinghamshire and ran them very close and did Long Crendon proud - we will now dust ourselves off and be ready to go again next year.

The support of fellow squad members Derek Golden and Tony Scott, plus Amanda Johnson, Pauline Cherry, Sandra Bridges and Jo Hill was much appreciated on a long day.
